Gray Day and Zen

Posted by marshal on July 24, 2009 in Uncategorized |

It’s been really gray lately. We should be in our monsoon season, but not that much rain has fallen. I’ve been re-reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. It’s a good book that should be read at least once by most people. Not all people, just like Ayn Rand shouldn’t be read by all people. I owe a lifetime apology to my daughter Kristin for making her read “Atlas Shrugged.”

Anyway, Zen itself. I once thought I understood it, then I realized I didn’t, realized there was nothing to understand and so on. It’s been years since I thought about Zen and its lessons. I guess I should have been thinking about this sooner, but it’s like the story goes: a fish asks a wiser fish what is water. Thinking about Zen is a self defeating pastime.

Well, crap. That’s enough of that. I need a cup of coffee.
