Shoveling against the tide

You ever notice how many jerks there are now days? They’re everywhere. Some call themselves liberals, some call themselves conservatives or libertarians, some don’t know what the hell they are and what you’re talking about. Everybody’s yelling and nobody’s listening. Well, when you pay somebody big bucks to make an ass of themselves on television or on the radio, you can expect it.

Rudeness as entertainment, what an idea. Hey, if you’re a big enough jerk and you don’t mind showing it to the world, you could make a fortune.

One thing I’ve noticed is the ‘oblivious state.’ This is where people walk in front of you or back into you or who stroll across the street at a diagonal, slowly, in front of your car while you’re waiting to go on, and you have to watch out for them.

I’ve tried doing this as an experiment, but I don’t like it. I’ve gone through a store, pushing my basket, and ignoring other shoppers. I’ve gotten through without running anybody down, but I knew it was rudeness, because others had to watch out for me. As I said, I didn’t like it.

Being a jerk’s easy; I think we’re all jerks at one time or another. The thing to do is to cut down on the times. Awareness of self and others, that’s what’s chiefly needed, said the Walrus.

Anyway, have a great day, and watch out for the jerks.
