The Amargosa Blues

I am the proud possessor of a new book, The Amargosa Blues. It's barely out,
but it's already starting to fade behind me like a small town in a pickup
truck's rear view mirror. I'm in the throes of rewriting my third book,
and working on the fourth.

I honestly can't tell you why I write, because I could probably find a dozen
other ways to spend money without all the work. I have been told that there are
some 60,000 books written every year, that 10% of those writers get an agent,
and that 10% of those with agents sell. I have also been told that only 1% of
all books written ever make it on to a best seller list. Those are the odds
I face.

On the other hand, when I'm not doing anything else, I tell myself stories:
stories about the people I see, the places I go to, and so on. I guess that's
the reason why I write, to get these things out of my head. I'm like a
collector pinning butterflies to a piece of cardboard.

Maybe I'm a book junkie, or whatever.

If you want to join me in my addiction, you can buy a copy of the book. Just
contact me or go to Lulu.com. The book can also be downloaded, something I've
never thought about before. I will have an excerpt in the blog, just as soon
as I can figure out how to do it.

Thanks for tuning in, and have a nice day.
